Video Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through an Internet account. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the highest assemblage of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. On this account it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the interaction with other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the play button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "dealt" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards are dealt if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are able to select the most money-making game each instance.
Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case a further hand is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
